The Australian Coastal Councils Association invites your council to participate in a survey on the impact of online short-term rental services, such as Airbnb, on coastal communities.
Association Chair Barry Sammels, Mayor of the City of Rockingham WA, said the survey was prepared in response to concerns of the rapid growth in properties listed on the online accommodation platforms in coastal areas.
The questionnaire has been developed in association with Professor Nicole Gurran, Professor of Urban and Regional Planning at The University of Sydney. Professor Gurran is co-author of a study into the effectiveness of local planning controls in relation to properties listed on online platforms such as Airbnb.
The survey results will form the basis of a presentation and workshop session on the issue at the forthcoming 2017 Australian Coastal Councils Conference to be held in Redcliffe from 3 - 5 May.
The survey can be completed here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/coastalcouncils-survey
The deadline for completing the survey is Friday, 31 March 2017. Participating councils will receive a copy of the survey findings.
