A safer, more efficient way for road trains

Published: 9th February 2017

Road trains carrying cotton modules now require permits to operate due to the implementation of a safer, more efficient method of load restraint. This load restraint method increases the height of the road train configuration to 4.6 metres which subsequently requires each vehicle to apply for a permit to operate.

In response to this, councils in cotton producing areas will now give pre-approval for these modified road trains to operate on the existing road train network. The revision is a positive gain for both safety and efficiency as the pre-approvals will significantly streamline the approval process.
