The Queensland State Government has released a practical guide on social media use for those working in the public sector.
LGAQ social media and corporate communications advisor Samantha Dean said the guide was a useful resource for clarifying the safe use of social media, particularly as the distinction between personal and professional use becomes increasingly blurred.
“There is a growing trend of empowering employees to become advocates for organisations and key messages. The resource is useful because it gives some practical guidelines on how public-sector employees can elegantly execute that.” Ms Dean said.
“The guide also makes positive headway towards clarifying how to use social media safely, removing some of the uncertainty and fear around different content and demonstrating that you can engage in social media creatively using a broad range of approaches.”
