The Queensland Industrial Relations Commission has published the new award pay rates arising out of their 2017 State Wage Decision.
Employees whose pay is directly linked to the award are entitled to this increase effective from 01 September 2017.

Note 1: Councils who have a current certified agreement which pays slightly above the award should check to see that this larger-than-usual award increase (3.3%) to the award does not make the award level superior to that provided for in the enterprise agreement. Where it does, Council may be liable to pay the difference.
Note 2: Any wage increases arising out of the state wage case decision can be absorbed into over-award payments unless prescribed differently in an industrial instrument such as an enterprise agreement.
