A $5 million upgrade of the Diamantina Developmental Road between Bedourie and Boulia in far west Queensland is officially open.

Minister Coralee O’Rourke said for the first time, locals would have access to a fully sealed road network, with upgrades stretching along eight kilometres of the 190 kilometre link.

“Our Government has been working to provide a sustainable pipeline of investment for local government workforces, and I am pleased to say this project is a true example of what can happen when we work together.” Minister O’Rourke said.

“Thanks to the efforts of dedicated workers from both state and local government, these upgrades will improve connectivity and liveability for communities in the region and improve safety.

“It’s also good news for industry, who can now better transport livestock and freight from the North all the way to the South.”
