The 25 November state election has prompted the dissolution of the Queensland Parliament, a move that means several Bills affecting local government have lapsed.
All parliamentary committees other than the Parliamentary Crime and Corruption Committee have also ceased.
Two of the lapsed Bills, dealing with reform of the system of councillor complaints and the Government’s response to the CCC’s Belcarra report, are of obvious interest to councils.
LGAQ advocacy general manager Sarah Buckler said the Association would again pursue its position regarding these proposed reforms following the election.
