The Queensland Government was back to business this week, with Parliament sitting for the first time since the state election last year.
Government has begun the process to reintroduce the bills that lapsed at the dissolution of parliament when the election was called on 29 October, 2017.
We’re keeping an eye on the following bills of interest to local government, reintroduced this week and referred to parliamentary committees for consideration.
These bills will be open for submissions by councils and the LGAQ – we’ll keep you updated.
- Local Government Legislation (Validation of Rates and Charges) Amendment Bill 2018 – this is a new Bill to address the possible impacts of the Supreme Court of Queensland decision in Linville Holdings Pty Ltd v Fraser Coast Regional Council.
- Local Government (Councillor Complaints) and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2018.
