The Local Government Association of Queensland has picked up two awards on behalf of councils at the 2018 Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia Queensland (IPWEA) Excellence Awards held on the Gold Coast, 11 October 2018.
Environment and Sustainability
The QCoast2100 program, a State Government fund for councils to help coastal communities prepare for the impacts of coastal hazards administered by the LGAQ took out the honours for ‘Environment and Sustainability’.
The program provides funding, tools and technical support to enable all Queensland coastal local governments to address climate change related coastal hazard risks over the long-term.
QCoast2100 Program Manager, Subathra Ramachandram said that the recognition was timely given that the Program has recently reached a significant milestone with 30 of Queensland’s 41 coastal councils being awarded with grant funding to progress with their Coastal Hazard Adaptation Strategy (CHAS).
