Why comment?
The Reef Credit Scheme is a new, innovative market-based approach to improve water quality entering the Great Barrier Reef. It aims to provide a practical and credible scheme for crediting reductions of pollutants entering the Great Barrier Reef.
Local government wastewater and stormwater managers may want to use Reef Credits to offset water quality impacts from population growth and limits to technological options for water quality management.
The purpose of the Reef Credit Standard and Guide are to establish the rules and requirements for Reef Credit Projects and Methodologies.
The Reef Credit Standard and Guide will commence beta operation in January 2019. Documents will be available at www.reefcredit.org
Reef Credit Projects or Methodologies seeking approval will need to comply with these rules and requirements.
