Across this week and the next, the LGAQ and Peak Services will have had a dozen staff – including the President – visit nine councils in Western Queensland.  See the weekly wrap video below from LGAQ CEO Greg Hallam.

President Mayor Mark Jamieson and LGAQ’s Manager of Intergovernmental Relations Joshua O’Keefe took to the Flinders Highway this week – all 1200 kms of it – visiting councils long the way.Flinders

Meanwhile, Peak Services staff will descend on Winton early next week for their Waltzing Matilda celebrations. They’ll join 10,000 people celebrating that iconic attraction, a project which was very proudly managed by Peak during its rebuilding.

If you’re anything like us at LG House, your eyes will have been glued to the amazingly well-run Commonwealth Games this week. Big congratulations to Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate, his fellow councillors and staff for their outstanding efforts in presenting the Games.

They have done us all proud.

Post the deserved focus on the Gold Coast the eyes of Australia and indeed the world’s attention will head to the outback and Winton – the nation's and states' leaders will all be present at this historic event.

The Country and Western Concert to be held to mark the opening will boast some of Nashville’s finest – and will be beamed around the globe.

Peak is also building the geo-thermal plant in Winton, now just months away from being commissioned after navigating the many challenges thrown at them – it's tough work breaking new ground both metaphorically and physically.

Sarah Buckler our Advocacy GM is also leading a team of five policy gurus and Media Executive Craig Johnstone for a three-day council visit in North-West Queensland.

They’ll be spending some time at Mckinlay Shire’s Dirt ‘n’ Dust festival – check out what our team had to say in this video about their upcoming trip.

Our Sherlock lead spent time this week in Longreach presenting at a RAPAD meeting.

While we might be based in Newstead Brisbane all of Queensland is our natural home- we can never be accused of being shiny bums.

Long may that be the case.

We care.
