Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) CEO Alison Smith welcomed today’s announcement of State Government funding to facilitate the delivery of housing action plans across Queensland.
It follows a resolution of Queensland councils at the LGAQ’s 2022 Annual Conference calling for funding support for regional and local housing studies and the development of local housing action plans (LHAPs).
“Today’s announcement – part of the State’s Housing and Homelessness Action Plan 2021-25 – extends on the good work being undertaken by 22 councils through the Western Queensland Alliance of Councils to develop LHAPs, and the work of Gympie Regional Council in delivering the first such plan,” Ms Smith said.
“It also complements work under way to quantify housing need across Queensland’s 17 remote and discrete First Nations communities.
“We look forward to working with the State and our members in coming months to progress this critical work.”
