North Burnett Regional Council's new CEO Margot Stork
Ms Margot Stork has been appointed as the North Burnett Regional Council’s Chief Executive Officer, commencing Monday 23 May 2022.
Council says Ms Stork has more than 20 years’ experience in Chief Executive and Senior Executive roles in both local and state governments, and will bring a contemporary approach to the leadership of the North Burnett Regional Council.
Mayor Cr Les Hotz said the recruitment of a new Chief Executive Officer is considered one of the biggest responsibilities of Council, but working with Leading Roles, Council was able to define the specific skills and strengths desired for the new CEO, which were financial knowledge, stakeholder engagement and workforce leadership.
“We needed to find someone who not only had the required government, financial and management skill sets, but someone who was a great communicator,” Mayor Hotz said.
“Ms Stork displayed a warm and engaging personality and has demonstrated high standards of professional ethics.”
LGAQ CEO Alison Smith congratulated Ms Stork on the appointment.
“At the LGAQ, we work closely with all our members to ensure they have the tools and support they need to succeed in making positive impacts in their communities," Ms Smith said.
“We look forward to working with Ms Stork in the near future.”
North Burnett Councillors interviewed six shortlisted candidates, with the preferred applicant for the CEO position being agreed by Councillors to be Ms Margot Stork.
