Logan City Council commended for koala campaign

Published: 3rd March 2022

Griffith University has commended Logan City Council on its 2021/2022 koala breeding season campaign that it developed in conjunction with the Department of Environment and Science (DES) and Social Marketing @ Griffith (SM@G).

The Logan City Council team ran a comprehensive community awareness campaign promoting actions and providing materials that residents can take to help koalas.

According to Griffith University, the four-month campaign reached 295,460 residents, with 16,202 people actively engaging.

Griffith said it especially loved Council’s ‘Glovebox Checklist’ – a flyer available through community centres throughout the city detailing what a sick koala looks like, and what to do if you spot one.

Other key elements of the campaign were clever social media graphics, a webinar, and calls to report wildlife sightings within the community.
