Works for Queensland is a State funding program that makes a real difference to local communities in regional, rural and remote Queensland. It has created and supported 22,000 jobs and over 2,000 projects that benefit Queensland’s local communities.
Councils hold grave concerns that an upcoming reduction of Works for Queensland funding in the next State Budget will directly impact local workforces in their communities including tradies, artists and small businesses. That means fewer opportunities for critical infrastructure projects – like water and wastewater infrastructure, waste and energy projects, airport and road upgrades, arts precincts, and community revitalisation projects - which enhance the liveability of our communities and attract tourism to the regions.
The LGAQ is asking the State Government to restore Works for Queensland funding back to $100 million per annum – consistent with historical funding levels. Why change what’s worked well in the past? You can add your voice to the campaign by sharing council and community stories from the LGAQ’s social media channels.
