We have received quite a number of queries from members since the Vegetation Management and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2016 was passed on 3 May 2018.
Many of these queries are regarding how the changes to the Act will impact councils, as well as landholders in Qld communities.
FAQs
In response, the LGAQ has prepared a list of 'Frequently Asked Questions' (FAQs) to answer 19 questions that specifically relate to local government activities regarding the recent legislative changes to the Vegetation Management Act 1999 (VMA) and the Planning Regulation 2017
(Planning Regulation).
From 'What mapping is available to support the vegetation management framework?' to
'How do I identify if there have been changes within my local government area and which category of vegetation I am dealing with?' to
'Can I clear vegetation to maintain a firebreak?', there are lots of useful answers to help you with your work.
