Under the Environmental Protection (Waste Management) Policy 2000, Queensland Local Governments are required to prepare and adopt a waste management strategic plan for their area or develop a cooperative (regional) waste management plan with one or more other Local Governments. The plan sets the Local Government’s vision and strategic direction in regard to waste management in their community and identifies any with actions needed to implement the strategy.  The plan is required to be reviewed every 5 years.
