Queensland Government and Community Engagement

The LGAQ and the Queensland Government have a number of agreements that document our mutual commitment to a quality engagement model and process.  The Protocol Establishing the Roles and Responsibilities of the State Government and Local Government in the system of Local Government states an objective of Local Government is to:

  •  ‘Provide for appropriate levels of community engagement with an emphasis on performance and accountability’, and,

Both parties agree to,

  •  ‘Promote awareness of the principles of engagement across the State Government and Local Government through training and skills development’.

An additional cooperative agreement between the Queensland Government Department of Communities and the LGAQ states that both parties will actively seek out opportunities for both the listing of Local Government consultations on ConsultQld and the listing of joint engagement activities as part of furthering the EDemocracy agenda.
