Electronic Development Assessment (eDA)

The LGAQ, Queensland State and Commonwealth Governments have recognised the opportunity offered via the internet and have accordingly allocated significant funding into getting the DA process online.

The potential benefits for Councils of putting the DA process online through these initiatives include:

  • Significant savings in time by eliminating administrative and duplicate tasks allowing a better focus on assessment and planning outcomes for the community
  • Reduced cost to Councils of establishing eDA individually (there are software development costs)
  • Better access to State Agency information relevant to DAs
  • Further improvement to DA standards and processes, making it simpler, more efficient and consistent for all parties
  • Less dependence by the community on Councils for information on development and applications
  • Being supported through the process by LGAQ, State and Commonwealth Governments and other Councils participating in the initiatives

The sponsored eDA initiatives can be grouped as follows:

1. Regulation Reduction Incentive Fund (RRIF) Projects - funded by the Commonwealth Government and include the National electronic Development Assessment (NeDA) Project led by LGAQ and Cairns City Council and the Development Process Online (DPO) Project led by Brisbane City Council.

2. Smart eDA Program -  an initiative of the LGAQ and Department of Local Government, Planning, Sport and Recreation (DLGPSR) ; click here for more info on this program).

The attached document provides an overview of the eDA arena.
