Development Assessment Process Reform Operational Works and Large SubdivisionsWhat is the Development Assessment Process Reform – Operational Works and Large Subdivisions project?
DAPR-OWLS will achieve this goal by meeting the following project objectives:
The DAPR-OWLS project is an extension of the Council of Mayors (SEQ) Target 5 Days initiative which delivered a 75% reduction in assessment timeframes for 95% of residential development applications in south-east Queensland. Who is involved in the DAPR-OWLS project?A number of councils will be involved in both the subdivisions and operational works components of the project. These councils are Gold Coast, Moreton Bay, Sunshine Coast, Logan, Redland, Ipswich, Townsville, Mackay and Gladstone. Further councils – Brisbane, Scenic Rim, Lockyer Valley, Somerset and Toowoomba – will be involved in the improvement of operational works processes only. The DAPR-OWLS project is an initiative of the Council of Mayors (SEQ), in partnership with the Local Government Association of Queensland. Funding for the project has been provided by the Queensland Government’s Department of Local Government and Planning. What are the benefits of the DAPR-OWLS project?Initial estimates for the DAPR-OWLS project indicate a financial benefit to the development industry of approximately $17 million per annum through a reduction in holding costs. Councils will also benefit from more efficient assessment processes and operational improvements. Where can I find out more?More information on the DAPR-OWLS project information sheet, or by contacting Mr Scott Smith, Project Manager on 07 3040 3479 or at scott.smith@seqmayors.qld.gov.au.
