| | Simone Talbot has been with the LGAQ 11 years and in that time has progressed from graduate to manager. Simone came to LGAQ fresh out of Uni in September 1999 with a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Arts with Majors in Political Science and Japanese. Simone commenced with us as a Research Officer in our Economic and Public Policy section. Her hard work was rewarded with a promotion to Policy Officer in June 2002 within our newly formed Roads, Transport and Infrastructure Section and Simone got busy working with Local Government engineers on some big issues with the roads – she became LGAQ's very own ‘Roads Princess’. Having gained more experience in the area of policy development Simone was promoted to Policy Advisor in December 2004. In 2005 when LGAQ led Qld councils to review their Size Shape & Sustainability (SSS) Simone took on the role of Project/Team coordinator of the SSS project that preceded the amalgamations in April 2008 – a very torrid, challenging and rewarding time for her. Simone is now a Manager in our Advocate stream - regularly dealing with State and Federal counterparts and managing the five staff that report to her. Simone has, and is, making a difference in local government!
