Who was the first women elected to a Queensland council?

Dr Ellen Mary Kent Hughes (1893-1979) became Queensland’s first female councillor when she was elected to the Kingaroy council in 1923. She was again elected to council, this time in Armidale in NSW from 1937-68, serving as Deputy Mayor 1963-4.
